Tip for Tuesday- Making your Mascara Last!

Happy November! 🍁🍂 I can't believe it's only a few weeks until Thanksgiving!! And 5 wks until baby arrives!! 😬 SO much to do! We have been in our new house about 3 wks now and have been cleaning, painting, and unpacking every day it seems. Its SO exciting to be in our own place again!!!

None of my room makeovers are quite ready for pictures, so I thought I would share a little helpful tip with you today that my mom passed on to me.

It's about your MASCARA!! (Don't you just love that stuff?!) My personal fav is Mary Kay's Ultimate Mascara. SO good...   I also love Younique's fiber lash stuff on top of the MK, but only if I'm wanting to glam it up a bit... But, I digress. :)

So, you know how you are supposed to switch out your mascara like, every 6 months? Something about bacteria and mites... (Um, EWWW!!!!) Well my mom shared a little tip with me to make sure your mascara is germ free and lasts longer instead of getting clumpy.

It's... (drumroll please)... Lavender Oil!!

Oils have SO many different uses, but this is one is actually one I'd never heard. So basically you just put 2-3 drops into your mascara and mix it by inserting and removing your wand a few times. Lavender has anti-bacterial properties that will kill germs, keep the bugs away, and keep it fresh for longer. (And it smells pretty nice too :)

I tried this out on a 6+ month tube of mascara that was getting close to me chunking it, and it was like new mascara again! If you are like me and don't run out of product before the "icky" arrives, this tip can save you some moolah!

Hope you enjoyed- have a fabulous week! 💗

CAN I TAKE THIS POLISH OFF YET?!?! -Jamberry 7 day challenge

Alright folks- here is day 7:

It truly pained me to leave it on this long, lol. It looked sooo tacky. But, truth be told, I have let my polish get that bad before... Several times, in fact. It's called: having 3 kids and having next to no time for yourself. ;)

Jamberry is so cool for moms. Me and some were just reminiscing the other day about those moment where you are painting your nails... And your toddler decides to launch their body in your direction. :D

My Jamberry sponsor Amber said she was putting her Jams on the other day and stopped to change a poopy diaper mid-manicure.

No problem whatsoever!! No polish on the floor, no smeared nails, and no having to rub your kid's leg with that {oh-so-toxic} polish remover, because you accidentally touched.

Speaking of polish remover- if you are wondering how you take off your jams- you CAN use acetone or polish remover to ease it off... But you can also use coconut oil or olive oil... Really any kind of oil works. I LOVE that Jamberry eliminated even more chemicals from my life!!!

Ok, so wanna see what I'm sporting now??? (My consultant kit came in yesterday with all my free wraps!!!!!)

I know- pretty loud and crazy :) but if styles like this aren't for you- don't worry! Jamberry has over 300 designs and something for everyone!

Happy Jammin'!

6 Things I'm Lovin These Days

VS Honeysuckle & White Patchouli Fragrant Moisture Mist. Mmmmm.... smells so clean and fresh. I love that it's a moisture mist instead a harsher perfume. I like light scents. Nothing fruity, floral or "foody". (I know, I'm not your average chick) I'm more about earthy smells. Got this on the 75% off shelf along with a shower gel, both for under $10! And, I didn't pay anything because I had a $10 off birthday coupon. Yay me! Love those kind of shopping trips!

My scissors! (that's one of those hard to spell words for me... anyone else?) I bought all of these scissors last week at Hobby Lobby.
We were doing the blanket project with the SH girls, and after scrounging up a few pairs from around mom's house, I knew that each girl would need their own for the project... or it would be CHAOS! So, I figured hey, wouldn't it be great to have a pair of scissors in every room of the house?! I mean, you can NEVER find scissors when ya need them right? Or at least around here we can't... so I'm thinking, green ones in the kitchen... black ones in the garage... pink for my bathroom & craft room... and so on!

I'm scissor happy.

RINGS!
I'm just lovin' big right-hand rings lately. They are so "in". I'm gettin' quite a little collection. My favorite place to buy: Forever 21. Their prices CAN NOT be beat when it comes to accessories. I think the average that I pay (full price) is about $5. SWEET!

Stewed Tomatoes

My ingredient of choice lately. I don' know why I'm so hooked on these things. I guess it's because they make a 3 or 4 ingredient casserole taste like you put SO much more effort into it! (:

My new CROCS!
I bought these with some birthday money (first pair ever) and boy, I understand the big fuss now! They are LIGHT as a feather, can be hosed off, and I can slip em' on over my socks if I need to run outside. Love it!

Scentsy!
I was recently introduced to Scentsy, and I can't wait to order more! I love that you can switch out the scents. They come in wax "bricks", you break em' up and the melt in the top of your warmer (shown), which is heated by a light bulb. A lot safer than traditional candles with a wick & flame.

Favorite Scents: Satin Sheets & French Kiss!

What are some of your favorite things this summer???

A-line "Necktie Skirt"

  My Sister Courtney...

has a really eclectic, funky sense of style-
and I love her for it! She helps me keep it fresh; and think outside the box when it comes to fashion. A couple of years ago, she had an idea to create a skirt from a myriad of neckties. So, she scavenged through re-sale shops (and stole a few from Dad :) to create this very... unique piece of clothing!

She basically dis-assembled all the ties and used the seam allowances already present to sew them all together. She then put in a zipper and a few darts for the waist. The bottom she left rough. (She didn't rip out the seaming in the tip of the ties so it was already "hemmed".)

She must have grown tired of her creation because she hasn't worn it in a long time... so the other day she said I could have it. I intend to remove my least favorite tie to make it fit. :) Gotta love her creativity!! This one is definitely a conversation starter!
